Craniosacral Therapy & Women's Health

"When I come back, I'm coming back as a _________"(fill in the blank). I have always filled in that blank with the word "woman". I wouldn't have missed a minute of it - pms, pregnancy, menopause "crazies". PMS gives women a chance to "emote monthly" and have an excuse! Pregnancy and childbirth provide a most sacred connection in the miracle of creating another life. Menopause is change we must make and gives us a chance to know who we really are. All of those life experiences are held within our bodies, from little girls to mature women.

Typically, our nature of giving and doing didn't give our poor bodies the much deserved rest it needed along the way. So, from time to time it would give us a reminder in the form of headaches, backaches, or other illnesses! Hopefully, we are learning that we do deserve to rest and take time for ourselves before that happens.

Craniosacral Therapy is a modality that allows the body and mind to rest with the intention of working with our inner physician to heal. It's done on a massage table with the client fully clothed and uses very gentle touch. The practitioner monitors the rhythms of the craniosacral fluid and enables the Central Nervous System to come to a "still point" to rest. It is based on anatomical and physiological research started by Dr. John Upledger, an osteopathic physician.

Treating ourselves to body work is more than just pampering ourselves. Sometimes we need a little body work to encourage letting go of anything we don't need to hold on to anymore. It's keeping ourselves healthy so we can enjoy all that we are - our true selves - wonderful wonderful women!
